Once again members are invited to apply to showcase their work at The Greenhouse Summer Exhibition. This year work will be exhibited at the prestigious Rufford Gallery, at the heart of Rufford Abbey Country Park.

Artists and makers working in any medium are invited to submit an application. Selected artists will be invited to exhibit their work at the Summer Exhibition 2009. A non returnable application fee of £20.00 will be charged.

Deadline for applications is 5pm, Tuesday 21st April 2009

The Greenhouse is a network for the creative industries sector in North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire. It is a free service which exists to ensure that members have access to the support they require and acts as an advocate for creative industries in the local area. Since it was launched in November 2006 The Greenhouse has attracted over 350 members representing a range of creative businesses and individuals.

CONDITIONS

ELIGIBILITY
All artists must be full members of The Greenhouse prior to submitting their application. All artists must live or work within The Greenhouse eligible areas, which include Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood and North East Derbyshire. The Greenhouse is free to join and welcomes members from a range of creative industries, visit www.creativegreenhouse.org.uk to join.

APPLICATION
The application fee is £20.00. A cheque made payable to Ashfield District Council must be sent with your completed application form. No commission will be charged on top of artists’ sale price (Work sold by credit card will be subject to an administration fee).

IMAGES
Please send a maximum of four digital images on disc (jpeg 300dpi, Max size A4). The images you submit are intended to provide an indication of the quality and type of work which you wish to exhibit. The panel will select based on the quality and consistency of the work shown in the images, so choose carefully. Selected artists will be asked to provide a collection of work for exhibition (the number of pieces will vary depending on the size and type of work) but it is the choice of the by the exhibition curator whether all or any of these are chosen to be displayed.

Please note we are not able to return any of the application materials submitted.

SELECTION OF WORK
All applications will be viewed by the selection panel. All applicants will be informed of the panel’s decisions by Friday 15th May 2009. The selection panel reserves the right to use their discretion on all matters relating to the exhibition, their decisions will be final and no correspondence can be entered into concerning selection or exhibition of work.

PRESENTATION OF WORK BY SELECTED ARTISTS
Selected artists will be required to deliver a body of work to Rufford Gallery as requested by the exhibition curator. All work must be delivered to Rufford Gallery, near Ollerton, on Monday 20th or Tuesday 21st July 2009 between 10.30am and 4.00pm.

Work must arrive at the gallery ready for the curator to hang or display, clearly labeled with the artists name, title and selling price. All pictures must be framed. Metal frames and box canvases are accepted. Clip-frames will not be accepted. A high standard and simplicity in framing is preferred. Frames must not carry mirror plates, screw eyes or any other projections, but must have properly secured D-rings attached and hanging cord. D-rings must be taped over so that they will not scratch your frames or those of other artists.

Non wall art such as glass and ceramics must be free standing, able to stand on the floor or a plinth or fitted with secure hanging points.
Artists wishing to exhibit particularly large or heavy work are advised that the gallery is situated on the first floor and door and stairway dimensions must be considered. A small lift is available; it is for six persons with a weight load restricted to 450kg.

All work and artists selected in the exhibition may be referred to in publicity for the exhibition. However it will not be compulsory that the selected artists participate personally in publicity. We welcome proposals from exhibitors for workshops or talks related to artists’ work which may be programmed as part of the training, education and outreach programme at Rufford Creative Learning Centre.

SALE OF WORK
All work submitted for exhibition must be available for sale. A member of the Rufford Gallery staff team will attend the exhibition during normal gallery hours and administer all sales of and payment for exhibited work. No commission will be charged on top of artists’ sale price (Work sold by credit card will be subject to an administration fee).

Remittances for sold work will be sent to The Greenhouse Coordinator once processed by Rufford Craft Centre, following the close of the exhibition. The Greenhouse Coordinator will arrange remittances to be paid to individual artists for all sold work (minus the credit card admin fee).

COLLECTION OF WORK
All artists are responsible for the collection of any unsold work at the end of the exhibition. The original signed delivery note for the work must be presented on collection. Unsold work must be collected on Tuesday 8th September or Wednesday 9th September 2009 between the hours of 10.30am and 4pm. Rufford Gallery reserves the right to dispose of any uncollected work remaining on site after Friday 11th of September.

LIABILITY
Works submitted to Rufford Gallery are covered by Nottinghamshire County Council’s insurance against damage or theft once the exhibition is opened until it closes. Responsibility for insurance during set up and take down lies with the individual artists. All artists submitting applications must accept the above conditions and the successful artists must provide two copies of an itemised delivery note on delivery, one to be retained by the gallery.
